In 2009, Nate Gilbert, a DJ and former XM Satellite Radio employee, got the idea to combine his passion for music and his passion for service. This idea led to the Michael Jackson vs. Prince Skate Jam Fundraiser in December of 2009. Seeking to build off of that success and also seeing the need of the people in Haiti following their devastating earthquake, Nate organized the December 2010 event 80’s Skate 4 Haiti. Recognizing the power that we as individuals have to positively affect our communities and our world, Nate seeks to begin a quarterly fundraising party, with each party serving to a different organization.

Sound Affects will do just that....

The Objectives:

  • To provide a fun and uplifting party experience for individuals in the DC Metro area that is centered on Good Music, Good People and Positivity.

  • To bring about awareness of organizations that are right here in our community doing positive work, and;

  • To mobilize the efforts of members of the community in supporting local charitable organizations and causes, through volunteerism and fundraising.

The Charities:
How will the organization be chosen? The Sound Affects team seeks out charities that have a direct impact, servicing the people and needs of the Washington DC community.
